England are all set to clash with Pakistan in a seven-match T20I series. The England tour of Pakistan is crucial for both teams as it will help them prepare for the upcoming T20I World Cup 2022. The series kick starts on September 20, Tuesday with the first T20 International scheduled at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Ahead of the high-profile game, England’s Dawid Malan spoke to the press about how the Englishmen will be coping with different playing conditions. It will be relatively easy for Malan, as he has a good experience of playing in Pakistan due to his participation in the Pakistan Super League.

The English star reflects on playing conditions

Malan revealed that there are a lot of players who are touring England for the first time, and the senior lads are trying their best to get them familiar with the pitches. Also, he labeled the Green Army as tough competitors. Pakistan will be entering the seven-match series with high spirits as they reached the final of Asia Cup 2022.

Speaking in the press conference, Malan reckoned,

“Pakistan, out here, is a fantastic team. They have got all the bases covered. For many of us, it’s the first time in Pakistan and, for others, we have been here a couple of times. It’s about us sharing the experience of the wickets and conditions and giving as much knowledge to the rest of the guys who haven’t been here.”

Malan hails PSL

Further, the 35-year-old differentiated between the pitches in Karachi and Lahore. Malan revealed that the surface in Karachi is skiddy while Lahore offers good bounce and pace.

The left-hander also lauded the Pakistan Super League for playing an instrumental role in shaping his career in the shortest format of the game. He has represented teams like Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi in the league. Malan has played a total of 20 PSL games so far amassing 508 runs.

“I’m extremely fortunate to be given the opportunity to play in the PSL against the best players in the world, which is slightly different from county cricket. It sort of taught me what I needed to go one step forward. The PSL has been fantastic for me and given me the opportunity to improve as a player, given me the chance to play in different leagues around the world.”
