England women's team opener Danielle Wyatt has signed a fresh deal with Brisbane Heat ahead of the eighth edition of Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

On Wednesday (August 31), Brisbane Heat confirmed the signing of the top order batter for the upcoming season of Australia's domestic T20 competition.

With the addition of Wyatt, the two-time champions have completed their overseas signings for the eighth season. The signing of Wyatt also completes Heat’s 15-player list for the 2022-23 season.

Wyatt is currently playing for Southern Brave in the second edition of The Hundred. The Brave opener has smashed 162 runs across five innings, including 65 off 34 balls in the opening match against London Spirit.

The 31-year-old English cricketer started her BBL career with Melbourne Renegades, playing 55 matches across five years with the team. In the 55 games, the dynamic right-handed batter has scored 1314 runs for the Renegades with a strike rate of 113.81 and took 26 wickets with her gentle off-spin.

Wyatt looking forward to the upcoming season

“I was fortunate to have a good time and enjoy my cricket previously in the WBBL, so it was great to field a call from the Heat about whether I was keen to come back to Australia. Having played a lot against Jess Jonassen and Amelia Kerr at the international level over the past few seasons, including the Commonwealth Games just recently, I’m keen to catch up and enjoy what the season has to offer with the Heat,"

Heat welcomes 'complete package' Wyatt

Brisbane Heat coach Ashley Noffke reckons that it is a massive bonus to be able to sign a player of Wyatt's quality.

“Danni (Wyatt) is the complete package when it comes to accentuating the skills and strength of our squad. She’s been successful the world over, excelling with different teams and in different conditions and we’re so excited to have her joining the Heat."
