Surrey vs Kent


Kent started Day 2 on 445/5 with Sam Curran and Will Jacks at the crease. The experienced players steered the team in an exemplary fashion with their flawless hitting. Curran played a terrific knock of 126 off 75 balls before getting holed out to Matt Milnes off George Linde. Gus Atkinson supported the team well to score 42 off 65 balls. After Will Jacks completed his second FC century, they declared on 673/7. 


In reply, Surrey lost their opener, Ben Compton, in a clean-bowled dismissal by Curran for 4 off 13. Then, Denly and Daniel Bell Drummond were cautious with their approach to negate the new-ball pacers. However, Daniel Worrall breached the defence of Denly (38) in the 13th over, who hit seven boundaries. 


Until the end of Day 2, the stand-in captain Jack Leaning (31*) has stitched an unbeaten stand of 92 runs with Drummond (62*).

Northamptonshire vs Warwickshire


Northants had ended Day 1 at a strong position on 420/6. However, Lewis McManus could add only one run to his tally and was dismissed for 58. However, the tailenders could not hold the opposition for a longer time, and the team could post 451 on the board. For Warwickshire, Oliver Hannon Dalby scalped four wickets. 


Warwickshire had a quiet start with the experienced players Alex Davies and Dominic Sibley as their openers. However, in the 28th over, pacer Jack White dismissed Davies (31) Plumb LBW. Then the pair of Sibley (30) and Chris Benjamin (8) are unbeaten at the stumps, with the team at 71/1.

Gloucestershire vs Lancashire


Gloucs had slipped from 156/2 to 279/7, despite Chris Dent scoring a century. On Day 2, the resilience from Zafar Gohar (62) helped them to do well in the morning session and finish on a total of 337. Jack Morley was the most successful bowler for Lancashire with four scalps. 


In the sixth over, Lancashire opener Luke Wells was dismissed early by Tom Price (3). Keaton Jennings was terrific with his delightful shots all over the park to keep the scoreboard ticking. Then, however, he was dismissed, falling six runs short of his century in the 45th over. Then, Josh Bohannon (32) and Steven Croft maintained the well-built momentum of Lancs. Finally, Captain Dane Vilas was dismissed for a score of 1. At the end of Day 2, Lancashire are at 226/4, with Croft and Phil Salt at 49* and 33*, respectively.

Essex vs Hampshire


In the morning session, the tailenders of Hampshire, Kieth Barker (24) and Kyle Abbott (27) helped the team post 167 and lessened the lead for the opposition team. It was an ordinary effort from Essex with the bat, but the knocks of 60+ runs each from Adam Rossington and Simon Harmer paved the way for them to score 223 and set a target of 299 runs for the James Vince-led side. 


At the end of Day’s Play, Hampshire have lost no wickets and are at 35/0, with Felix Organ (23) and Ian Holland 12 displaying good resistance to the bowlers. However, they still need 264 runs, and the experienced campaigners like Vince and Dawson will be crucial for the team.
