The ninth edition of the Champions Trophy is nearing its business end. With the league matches nearly over, the final four teams will soon be gearing for the semis and then the summit clash.

India are currently playing New Zealand in the 12th match of the tournament at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This match will mark the end of the group stages. Both New Zealand and India have qualified for the final four, but who will finish at the top of the table will be determined by the result of the ongoing contest.

After being put to bat first in the game, the Indian top-order was dismantled by the Kiwi bowlers and they were struggling at 30/3 when Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel got together. The duo tried to bail the team out of pressure with 98-run partnership. Who Will India Face If They Lose Against New Zealand?

If India lose the match against New Zealand, then they will finish the league stage with four points and the second spot in the points table. As per the rules of the Champions Trophy, India, the group topper of each group, will play the second-placed team in the other group. 

South Africa have qualified for the semi-finals as the group topper of Group B. So if India lose this game, they will have to play against South Africa in the semi-final. 

Who Will India Face If They Win Against New Zealand?

If India win this match, then they will finish the group stage at the top of table with six points. Australia qualified for the semi-finals from Group B as the second team. Hence, if India win the match against New Zealand, then they will up against Australia in the fight for top two. 

What Are The Chances Of India vs Australia Final In Champions Trophy 2025?

If India lose this match and qualify as the second team in the points table, then they will be up against South Africa in the semi-final.

On the other hand, Australia will be playing against New Zealand in the other semi-final. If the two teams win their respective semi-final games, then there is a chance that India and Australia will meet each other in the summit clash of the tournament.
