  • Broad Has Bowled On Flatter Tracks All Ready For New Zealand Peter Moores

Broad has bowled on flatter tracks, all ready for New Zealand: Peter Moores

Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moores feels that Stuart Broad has 'found his rhythm' ahead of England's upcoming Test series against New Zealand.

The 35-year-old Nottinghamshire pacer has eased himself back into bowling after a long break following the Ashes, playing three games in the County Championship for Notts in the last month, all of them at Test grounds - two at Trent Bridge and the other at Lord's, the venue for the first Test on June 2.

In three County Championship appearances this season for his domestic team Nottinghamshire, Broad has taken 11 wickets at 24.09 while also chipping in with some quick lower-order runs.

Moores insists that Broad is getting better with every innings, and this is what he expects from a senior international bowler like Broad.

"Stuart (Broad) has done really well in his three matches for us. He has done what you would expect from an international bowler. He gets better with every innings he plays, he has found his rhythm, which always takes a little bit of time - and he hasn't played since January," said the head coach.

"He has done what Stuart does: he leads the attack, he's great to have around the lads, he's a brilliant team man. I think he goes into those Test matches in great shape.

"He has got some overs under his belt, he has bowled on flat pitches, which is what Test match pitches are like, and he will go along to the first Test feeling he can start his summer off, and England's summer off, with a real bang," concluded Moores.

Broad had to sit outside the team when England played a three-match Test series against the West Indies. But, earlier this week, Broad was recalled to the Test squad alongside new-ball partner James Anderson.

"Quite simply, I'm really looking forward to getting going against New Zealand next week after being selected in the first Test squad of the summer. So far, I've had only one very brief cricket chat on the phone with Brendon, but I'm positive about what lies ahead," he added.

The first Test between England and New Zealand will begin on June 2 at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground, followed by the second Test at Trent Bridge on June 10, and the series concludes at Headingley.
