Brisbane Heat have received a major boost ahead of their BBL 2022-23 clash against Melbourne Renegades on Wednesday (December 21) night.

Michael Neser and Matt Renshaw have been added to the 13-man squad of Heat to face the Nic Maddinson-led Renegades. They will replace Nathan McSweeney and left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson.

Heat faced Renegades in their first fixture, and lost by 22 runs. Batting first, the Renegades posted 166 on the board. Matthew Kuhnemann picked three wickets, while James Bazley bagged two scalps.

In reply, the Heat got off to a bad start as they lost a few quick wickets. Although Jimmy Peirson (43) and Colin Munro (35) did well, they were restricted to a score of 144.

The bowling all-rounder Neser was unavailable for the team in the first game due to national duties. He was a part of the 15-man Australian contingent in the first Test against South Africa. On the other hand, Renshaw could not be a part of the first match, due to birth of his first child.

Interestingly, Renshaw and opener Max Bryant will feature in their 50th Big Bash League game on Wednesday.

In 71 BBL games, Neser has scalped 73 wickets. On the other hand, Renshaw has 1,062 runs in 49 matches. It will be interesting to see if they can help the Heat to open their account against high-flying Renegades.

Heat's squad against Renegades: Jimmy Peirson (c), Xavier Bartlett, James Bazley, Sam Billings, Josh Brown, Max Bryant, Matt Kuhnemann, Colin Munro, Michael Neser, Matt Renshaw, Mark Steketee, Mitch Swepson, Ross Whiteley
