In a significant development, the Bengaluru police arrested IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru's head of marketing and revenue, Nikhil Sosale, from the Kempegowda International Airport on Friday. The cops also detained the employees of DNA Entertainment Network, Kiran Kumar (Senior Event Manager) and Sunil Mathew (Vice President - Business Affairs) following the infamous stampede incident that took the lives of eleven RCB fans during chaotic victory celebrations on Wednesday.

RCB Employee Arrested Over Bengaluru Stampede Mishap

Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had ordered the arrests of the RCB and DNA officials for their passive involvement in the horrific incident that cost eleven lives on an ill-fated Wednesday. The Karnataka Government took the matter into its own hands following public outrage over the horrible mishap.

As a result, an FIR was filed against the RCB and DNA officials, who now find themselves behind bars for their negligence and for conducting an unorganised victory celebration without following the security advisories.

The Karnataka Chief Minister also suspended Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda, additional commissioner (west) Vikash Kumar, DCP (central) Shekhar H Tekkannavar and other lower officials from Cubbon Park Police Station for their failure to maintain law and order during the celebrations.

On Thursday, Siddaramaiah had stated,

"The cabinet, in its wisdom, has made a decision to entrust (to investigate) yesterday's tragedy to a one-man judicial commission, headed by retired high court judge of Karnataka Justice Michael D'Cunha. We have told the commission to give the report in 30 days and also instructed IGP and DGP of the state to arrest immediately the RCB representative DNA event managers and the person representing KSCA," the CM was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz
"And also, the cabinet has made a decision to suspend immediately Police Inspector of the Cubbon Park PS, ACP of that particular area, DCP of Central division, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Additional Commissioner of Police, the Incharge of the Stadium and Commissioner of Police of Bengaluru City. FIR was already filed yesterday. I have entrusted the inquiry to CID. These are the decisions that we have taken in the cabinet today," he added.

The horrific stampede incident shook the entire nation after the Bengaluru people celebrated RCB's narrow victory in the IPL 2025 final over Punjab Kings. While the players as well as Government officials attended a felicitation ceremony, fans, who had gathered in large numbers outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for a glimpse of their heroes, paid the price, with the stampede incident costing as many as eleven innocent lives.
