The heatwave across the Indian subcontinent has affected millions and now managed to find its way to disrupt the game of cricket. The ongoing 1st Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, apart from seeing bucketloads of runs, witnessed an unforeseen incident take place at Chattogram.

Day 4 of the 1st Test saw on-field umpire Richard Kettleborough leave the field in the post-lunch session. The English umpire left the field due to illness in the 139th over of Bangladesh's first innings. He was replaced by Trinidad and Tobago-based Joel Wilson, who was the third umpire. While the exchange took place, players on the field took drink breaks under umbrellas due to the heat.

Funny enough, the forecast for this week shows rain in the second-largest city of Bangladesh.

Speaking of the Test, Bangladesh had attained a lead of over 60 runs, courtesy of a brilliant hundred from Mushfiqur Rahim in the first innings. During the knock of 105, Rahim created history by becoming Bangladesh's only player to break the 5,000 Test run barrier. He went past his good teammate Tamim Iqbal's tally of 4,981, who scored 133* on Day three before retiring hurt. Mushfiqur has 6,697 runs in ODIs and 1,495 in T20Is.

Sri Lanka was bundled out 398 on Day 2, where Angelo Matthews top-scored for the visitors with 199. Nayeem Hasan was the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers, claiming his career-best figures of six for 105. At Stumps on Day 2, Sri Lanka trailed by just 29 runs, with their score reading 39/2. 

Earlier in the week, due to the heat way across the region, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) proposed pushing the One-Day International (ODI) series against West Indies to an evening slot. 

All three day and night ODIs will occur at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The commencement of these matches could very well be around 5 pm instead of the normal time of 2 pm.
