BAN vs AUS | 3rd T20I: Nathan Ellis picks up hattrick on T20I debut

Australia’s Nathan Ellis etched his name in the record books after scalping a hat trick on his T20I debut against Bangladesh on Friday (August 6, 2021) during the third encounter in Dhaka. He became the first bowler to achieve the feat.

The right-handed bowler’s wickets included the dismissals of Mahmudullah, Mustafizur Rahman and Mahedi Hasan on the trot in the last over.

Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and Shehan Madushanka have picked up hat tricks in their maiden ODI appearances.

Batting first, the home side were restricted to 127/9 in 20 overs. Bangladesh didn’t have a positive start to the proceedings and lost a couple of early wickets before Shakib al Hasan and Mahmudullah chipped in with a partnership of 44 runs for the third wicket.

Shakib eventually departed for 26 off 17 while captain Mahmudullah notched up a half-century. The hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were left tottering at 97/6 before the innings concluded at 127/9.

Ellis returned with figures of 3/34  in 4 overs while Josh Hazlewood bagged a couple of wickets at the cost of 16 runs in 4 overs.

Australia are presently trailing the five-match series 0-2.

BCCI mandates strict biosecure bubbles to host Covid-free IPL 2021 in UAE

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is taking no risk in organising the remainder of the Indian Premier League season that was halted earlier in the year due to the Covid-19 outbreak in multiple franchises. Hence, the board and the IPL governing council are giving a lot of importance to biosecure bubble management for the part of the tournament slated to take place in the United Arab Emirates. The Board has decided to create as many as 14 bubbles for the tournament—eight of which will be for the franchises while the remaining six will be equally divided between the match officials and broadcasting crews, as per an ANI report. Furthermore, all members of franchises have been mandated to enter biosecure bubbles only after serving a mandatory quarantine period of six days, the report added. The BCCI has also made it clear that all members of the franchises will have to move via dedicated vehicles only. The BCCI and the governing council however have decided to concede some concessions to players and broadcasters who will be coming into the tournament from already secure bubbles in different parts of the world. Players and broadcasting crews staying under bubbles during the ongoing series between India and England, and the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League and South Africa tour of Sri Lanka will get the luxury of swift transfer from one bubble to another without having to serve a mandatory quarantine period, the report claimed further. The BCCI has also asked all franchisees to ensure full vaccination of all the support staff and players who will be travelling to the UAE for the remainder of the IPL 2021.
