Babar Azam, off the back of a profitable ODI series against New Zealand at home, has retained his top spot on the latest ICC rankings for batsmen. Bangladesh veteran Shakib Al Hasan also retained his throne, albeit in the all-rounders segment of the ICC rankings.

The top six batters of the ODI charts remain unchanged, while Ireland’s Harry Tector climbed up a few slots to jump to number seven.

Tector goes past Virat Kohli in latest ODI rankings

Young Irish batter Harry Tector is currently in Zimbabwe for the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 qualifiers. While his team failed to qualify for the next stage of the tournament, the cricketer enhanced his individual reputation on the latest ICC ODI rankings for batsmen.

Tector, who started Ireland’s Qualifier campaign at number nine on the ODI charts, jumped past India’s Virat Kohli and South African stumper Quinton de Kock to be placed at number seven. The Irishman was the biggest, and the only gainer on the latest top 10 standings, as he disrupted three slots with his big jump.

The rest of the seven positions remain unchanged, with Babar Azam retaining his top slot, and his Pakistani teammates Fakhar Zaman and Imam-Ul-Haq enjoying their number three and number four ranks respectively.

Apart from Kohli, the other Indians to feature on the list are rising star Shubman Gill at five and current captain Rohit Sharma at number 10.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh legend Shakib Al Hasan retained his throne at the all-rounders table. Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza also consolidated his place at number three, owing to some strong all-round performances at the World Cup 2023 Qualifiers.
