Pakistan Cricket has hit a new low as the Salman Ali Agha-led team suffered a defeat in the Asia Cup 2025 final, and most importantly, the Men in Green lost to India thrice in two weeks. In the latest events, the PCB has taken the first step to minimise the damage caused to the board's reputation after the humiliating defeat and has reportedly put No Objection Certificate (NOCs) on hold for overseas leagues.

According to a report from CurrentPakistan, PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed issued a notification to the players stating that they are suspending the NOCs for participating in overseas leagues.

The decision is a massive blow to the likes of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, and Shadab Khan, who were set to feature in the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League (BBL).

Big Blow To Rizwan, And Babar Azam

More than any other player, the decision will impact Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan the most, as the two veterans are out of the scheme of things in T20I cricket for Pakistan and participating in overseas leagues was one of the opportunities for them to win PCB's trust again and return to the shortest format of the game.

Further, for the unversed, in the upcoming edition of the BBL, Babar Azam was set to make his debut in Australia's premier league and signed an exclusive deal with Sydney Sixers.

How much money will Babar Azam lose if PCB puts NOC on hold

Since Babar Azam was picked in the Platinum category by the Sixers, the Pakistan superstar would earn up to $420,000 AUD - approximately INR 2.35 crore. Thus, if Babar fails to report to BBL duties, then he will face a loss of around 2.35 crores.

Further, the BBL might also take some action as the Sixers had strategised their rest of the tactics revolving around Babar Azam.
