Babar likely to be dropped (Source: @BabarAzam_152/X.com)
Nothing is going right for the former Pakistan captain, Babar Azam at the moment. He lost his captaincy in all formats and has also failed to deliver with the bat throughout 2024 as Pakistan have failed to win a single Test match in the last 1.5 years.
Babar started 2024 with a poor showing Vs Australia, Down Under. A lot was expected of him during the T20 World Cup 2024, but Babar had a horror show as Pakistan crashed out of the group stage, losing to India and USA.
Pakistan succumbed to an all-time low as they lost the Test series Vs Bangladesh, and created several unwanted records as the Tigers thrashed them 2-0. In that series, Babar was horrendous with the bat, scoring just 64 runs in 4 innings. The lowest point came during the recently concluded Multan Test Vs England.
On a flat track, the right-handed batter failed in both the innings as Pakistan suffered a humiliating innings defeat. Their is an alarming situation related to Babar's place in the national side, and now as per reports by Imran Siddique of Dawn News, Babar's place in the Test team is in danger and the star batter could be dropped for the second Test Vs England.
Pakistan looking to inject fresh faces in Test team
On Friday, PCB formed a new selection panel, and there is a possibility that the new comittee will build a Test team from a different perspective. Several senior players have failed to perform at the Test level and as per reports, PCB are looking to inject fresh faces in the side.
Shaheen Afridi, and Babar Azam could be shown the exit door as PCB look to revamp the squad, which has failed to win a single home Test match since 2021. The last time Pakistan won a home Test was almost more than 3-years ago.
