In a significant development, there are reports that Australia will have a new coach in the dugout for the remaining two ODIs against India. Notably, regular head-coach Andrew McDonald is reported to skip the last two games and won't be a part of the planning and discussions for the remainder of the fifty-over matches.

Australia coach leaves India series midway

A report from Codesports revealed that after the win in the first ODI against India, Andrew McDonald will skip the two remaining ODIs to prepare for the Ashes. Meanwhile, in his absence, assistant head coach Andre Borovec will act as the stand-in head coach.

The report also added that McDonald doesn't want to waste any time in preparing for the Ashes, and it is all set to meet Steve Smith and Pat Cummins to plan and strategise as the India series goes on.

The five-match Test series between Australia and England will kickstart from November 21, and the India series will end on November 8. Thus, the Kangaroos have very little time to prepare for their biggest challenge in Test cricket.

Why are Australia panicking about Ashes?

Ahead of the Ashes, Australia are sweating hard as there is uncertainty about skipper Pat Cummins' participation. Notably, the right-arm seamer is having trouble with his back, which also forced him to miss the ongoing India series.

The physios and the doctors are concerned and worried that Pat might miss the opening match of the Ashes, with a possibility of even getting ruled out of the entire series.

Amid this, Steve Smith is set to step up and lead the side in Cummins' absence. Thus, it makes sense that McDonald has walked out of the dressing room to have a discussion with Cummins and Smith, where the trio can plan and bring clarity on the table.
