On Friday, 20th August, Sri Lanka announced a 20-man squad for the Asia Cup 2022. The team will be led by Dasun Shanaka

Originally scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka, the tournament was shifted to the UAE due to political and economic instability in the country. The island nation has been suffering from fuel, medical and food shortage.

The delay

There was a considerable delay in the squad announcement due to political turmoil. Sri Lanka cricket had sent the squad to the concerned ministry, but the same refused to revert approval.

The Sri Lankan board also had to request the council for an extension in the announcement of the squad due to the crises in the country.
