Asia Cup 2022: KL Rahul to undergo fitness test
Rahul has been India's first choice T20I opener
In a fortunate turn of events, dynamic Indian opener KL Rahul has found his place in India's Asia Cup squad after recovering from COVID-19 and sustained injuries.
However, it has been reported that the Karnataka batter will undergo a mandatory fitness test at the NCA before departing for UAE to participate in the multinational event.
A BCCI source has apparently told InsideSport, "KL Rahul is fully fit and that is the reason he is selected in the team. But as a protocol he will undergo a fitness test in Bengaluru."
Although Rahul has declared himself fit, this test is going to be a litmus test for the player, as failing it would raise a lot of questions on his place in India's T20 World Cup squad.
Despite being immensely talented, Rahul's international career has been marred by frequent injury setbacks.
Rahul has missed a lot of games off late
Rahul last featured for India during the series against West Indies at home, hosted during February. The player has missed on a lot of regular playing time, and it is a race against time for him to consolidate his place.
