Ashwin, Axar and Mishra playing together is a dream bowling attack: Mohammad Kaif

Delhi Capitals fielding coach is upbeat about the game at hand against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 40-year-old praised the spin bowling trio of Axar Patel, Amit Mishra and Ravichandran Ashwin and called them a dream bowling attack for a slow and low turning wicket like Chepauk.

“Axar is one of the key members of the side and he had an important role in us getting to the final in last year tournament. He coming back alongside Ashwin and Mishra, bowling on this Chennai track is a dream bowling attack,” Kaif said in a video uploaded by the Delhi Capitals on their official Twitter account.

Former India player went on to say that it is going to be a cracker of a game between the Capitals and the Sunrisers, both of whom have momentum on their side. “I think it’s going to be a good game because they [SRH] have won their last game and we have also got the momentum going in our favour with three wins out of four games,” he said.

Considering batting as a tougher of the two major cricketing skills on this wicket, the former Uttar Pradesh skipper said that the depth and experience in their batting lineup would overpower SRH.

“Batting has been tough on this wicket. But we have got an experienced batting lineup compared to the last game. We have got Shikhar who has been playing really well, we have got Smithy who played well in the last game,” said Kaif.

Rashid Khan’s spell would be crucial according to Kaif and he believes that Capitals have got the firepower in their bowling to defend any sort of total that his teams put up.

“We have the bowlers, we have the spinners who can defend targets. For eg. we have got Amit who won Man of the Match in the last game,” he said.

The coach also lauded young skipper Rishabh Pant for how he has handled the bowlers so far. “The way Rishabh has been captaining on a slow pitch, on a turning track, he looked really good and well in control of the situation,” Kaif added.

IPL 2021: Simon Katich, Kane Richardson heap praise on CSK and MS Dhoni

Head coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore Simon Katich lavished praises on former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and said that he and his side have a huge amount of respect for the charismatic skipper. Dhoni hasn’t been in the best of form with the bat but his captaincy skills have been phenomenal in this season so far and have led CSK to three victories out of the four matches. Kohli led RCB will lock horns against the Dhoni-led CSK in a few moments at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. While RCB is currently occupying the top spot in the points table, CSK is currently in the second position having won 3 out of their 4 matches so far. "Dhoni is a master, isn't he? They are sitting at the top with three wins, they have had a fantastic start, they have fantastic players, we have a huge amount of respect for CSK, it is going to be a great game, we have seen some great games in Mumbai already. CSK has a very damaging batting lineup but we know our bowling lineup has performed well this season," stated Katich in a video that was posted by the official Twitter handle of RCB Meanwhile Australian medium-pacer Kane Richardson who played his first match for the RCB this season accepted the fact that the yellow brigade have a sensational batting line-up and RCB need to play out of their skin to return triumphant against the three-time champions. "It was enjoyable to finally play. It has been good watching the boys play in the first three games but it was good to finally get out there and play and be a part of the winning team. I have been rusty myself, it was great," said Richardson. "It all depends on the conditions at the Wankhede. Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad, are in form and they are batting well, so we will come up with some plans to stop them. They have experience throughout their team, they have won a lot of IPLs so it is going to be a really good game," he added. It has been a sensational start for the Bangalore based team who are hoping to win their first IPL. Their start has been phenomenal having won 4 matches out of 4. Captain Virat Kohli after the win against the Royals asked their fans to not get over-excited as this is still early days into the tournament. Coming back to CSK, after losing the opening game against the Capitals, they bounced back strongly with three back to back victories.

CSA members staff warn of 1000 job losses if board derecognised by Govt.

The turmoil in Cricket South Africa which has been brewing for the past 18 months is now reaching to point where more than 1000 people are staring at job losses if the country’s Sports Ministry indeed nullifies the status of CSA as the governing body of cricket. The members of staff, 72 in total, including director of cricket Graeme Smith wrote an open letter issued on Saturday afternoon stating that if the CSA is deemed defunct by the government, then there would be huge job losses. "This intervention not only has the potential to put our jobs at risk, but also the jobs of people employed at our Member Boards," read the letter. "It also has the potential to set us back in terms of any sponsorships that CSA has acquired and any future sponsors who wish to be aligned to this great game, thereby affecting the day-to-day operations. Imploring the Interim Board and the Members Council to go back to the table and have a ‘meeting of the minds’ to find an amicable solution in the interests of all, the letter demanded the ministry to reconsider its decision regarding the beautiful game loved by the people of the nation. The letter warned that the job loss would not only be for the people directly related to cricket but also for those indirectly linked with it. “We are of the opinion that an intervention of this nature would mean, to say the least, the disruption and destruction of all grassroots initiatives and ongoing projects, and the loss of more than 1000 jobs. These jobs affect the following, but not limited to, CSA staff, Member Board staff, cricket media, suppliers, sponsorship & hospitality services."
