Ajaz Patel signs up with Glamorgan for County Championships

New Zealand's left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel has signed up with Glamorgan for the rest of the County Championship season. Previously, he became only the third bowler in Test cricketing history to claim a 10-wicket haul in an innings.

Glamorgan signs Ajaz as replacement for Neser

For the rest of the season, Glamorgan county have signed Ajaz Patel as a replacement for Michael Neser, who will leave to participate in the Sheffield Shield for Queensland. Patel will be joining the County side for all four matches in September starting on the 5th at Sophia Gardens.

To express his delight, he said, "I really enjoyed my short spell in County Cricket in 2019 so when the opportunity arose to play again at Glamorgan I jumped at it.

"I can't wait to get over to Wales and meet my new teammates and support staff. Hopefully, I can contribute to a successful end to the campaign," he concluded.

Glamorgan's Director of Cricket had his say

Mark Wallace, Director of Cricket at Glamorgan, mentioned, "Michael Neser has been absolutely brilliant for us this season, but we are delighted to replace him with someone of the quality of Ajaz.

"He is a high-class operator and proven match-winner who will give us variety and options in our attack and hopefully help our promotion push as we reach the back end of the season."

Glamorgan are currently at the third position in division two of the County Championship with four wins from nine matches.
