Adil Rashid downplays the possibility of a Test return

England spinner Adil Rashid said he's focussing on white ball cricket and not thinking too much about his Test return.

Since the 2015 World Cup, Rashid has been England's one of the most potent weapons in limited overs cricket. Despite his continued success in the white ball forms of the game, Rashid's Test career has stuttered.

The idea of him being recalled into the Test side alongside other white ball superstars like Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali was floated by the new head coach of England's Test team- Brendon McCullum.

Speaking to Mirror.co.uk ahead of England’s first T20I against South Africa in Bristol, the 34-year-old Yorkshireman said a lot of things need to happen for him to play Test cricket again.

A lot has to happen for a Test return

“A lot has got to happen for me to play Test cricket. In terms of form, how someone feels, injuries, how the body feels, the mindset. You’ve got to have that communication with the coach and captain, and you’ve got to sit down and see where I’m at. Let’s see what happens there, but that’s a long way away," Adil Rashid told Mirror.co.uk.

Rashid fully committed to white ball cricket

"It’s not quite easy for me to say yes and no, but at the moment I’m not thinking about that. I’m only thinking about white-ball cricket, because that’s what we’ve got ahead of us. (Jack) Leachy’s doing a great job, and there are spinners coming through, they deserve it."
