Abu Dhabi T10 League: Faf du Plessis named Bangla Tigers' skipper

Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has been named as the skipper and the icon of the Bangla Tigers ahead of Abu Dhabi T20 league. 

Du Plessis in a statement said that he is pretty excited about joining the side and also lauded the new format. 

“It is an exciting new format to be part of. I am looking forward to joining forces with some of the world’s biggest names in this league and representing team Bangla Tigers,” Du Plessis said in a release.

“It is going to be a thrilling time for the game of cricket. It’s heart-warming to see leagues like T10 putting in so much hard work and offering such exciting formats for sports enthusiasts. I can’t wait to get going.”

Bangla Tigers owner Mohammad Yasin Chowdhury also expressed his excitement on having “champion player” like Faf in the side.

“It is terrific to have a world-class player like Faf in our squad. We have all seen his exploits for South Africa in various formats. He is a champion cricketer,” Chowdhury said.

The tournament is slated to take place from November 19 to December 2 at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Cricket Stadium. 

Du Plessis is an experienced captain having led the South African team in all three formats.

Cheteshwar Pujara definitely came with an intent to score runs: Rohit Sharma

India Test mainstay Cheteshwar Pujara was among runs and probably at a time when the team needed him the most against England in the third Test in Leeds. Not a single conversation had happened with Pujara regarding his form inside the team dressing room,” Sharma said. India are still 139 runs behind in the second innings after they ended the proceedings on Day 3 at 215/2 with Pujara (91*) and Kohli (45*) still at the crease. The Indian team is presently leading the five-match series 1-0 after they won the Lord’s Test.

India were 215/2, trailing England by 139 runs in the second innings at the end of the third day’s play. Rohit scored 59 before he was undone by Ollie Robinson while Pujara and Kohli were unbeaten at the crease at the conclusion of the day’s proceedings. Pujara who hasn’t really been among runs in quite some time looked steady in the second innings and remained unbeaten at 91 on Day 3. Kohli on the other hand, was at 45 when stumps were called. England had earlier taken a massive lead of 354 runs in the first innings after skipper Joe Root who has been in some brilliant form struck yet another century in the series. The Virat Kohli-led India presently lead the five-match series 1-0 after they clinched a win at Lord’s.
