Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022: Shakib Al Hasan named Icon Player for Bangla Tigers

Bangladeshi premier all-rounder and newly appointed Test captain Shakib Al Hasan has been named the Icon Player of the Bangla Tigers for the upcoming edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League. 

The official Social Media handle of the Bangla Tigers made the announcement, stating: 

“The wait is over, the biggest icon of Bangladesh cricket is now the icon of Bangla Tigers. We are thrilled to announce Shakib Al Hasan as Icon Player for the sixth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League.”

The 35-year-old also took to social media to confirm the development. Shakib wrote: 

“I am delighted to represent Bangla Tigers as an icon player for the next season of the T10 League. It’s always a lovely feeling to play for a franchise who are representing Bangladesh around the world. Looking forward to a new experience.”

Bangla Tigers announce retentions and direct signings

Bangla Tigers, who are yet to win the title have recently announced their retentions ahead of the tournament. They have retained the Sri Lanka speed gun Matheesha Pathirana and former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir for the upcoming season.

The Tigers have also roped in the West Indies' star opening batter Evin Lewis and New Zealand batter Colin Munro. While Lewis has been signed as a Platinum player, Munro is a part of Category A. 

The sixth edition of The Abu Dhabi T10 is scheduled to be held from November 23 to December 4 this year at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in UAE.
