Barbados Royals (BR) lifted the 6ixty Women 2022 title with a 15-run victory over Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) on Sunday (August 28) in Basseterre.

Royals post a fighting total on the board

Being put to bat first, Royals got off to a stable start with the presence of experienced players Aaliyah Alleyne and Hayley Matthews

Alleyne (23) and Matthews (15) added 42 runs at a brisk rate to set the platform for the rest of the line-up. However, the in-form batter Chloe Tryon (0) could not capitalize on a good start by the openers.

It was the contribution of 15 off 11 from Chinelle Henry, which paved the way for the Royals to finish on a score of 65.

For Knight Riders, Anisa Mohammed and Sune Luus scalped two wickets each.

Selman, Joseph brings glory to Royals

In a rather easy chase, the double strike from Qiana Joseph to dismiss Deandra Dottin and Lee-Ann Kirby triggered a collapse of Knight Riders.

Coming at number three, Luus did put up a fight to score 17 off 18. However, along with others, she also fell prey to the brilliance of Shakera Selman.

TKR were dismissed for a score of 50, resulting in the Royals winning the game by 15 runs.

Royals skipper Matthews was named as Player of the Series for contributing 63 runs and taking three wickets.
