The Indian fans finally breathed a sigh of relief when Hardik Pandya smoked a six towards the long-on area to help India seal the game against Pakistan on Sunday (August 28).

In the first half of the game, Pakistan succumbed to the skillful bowling attack of the Indian team. The experienced campaigner Bhuvneshwar Kumar led from the front to take four wickets.

Featuring in his first multi-nation tournament after recovering from injury, Pandya was calculative with his line-lengths to finish with figures of 3/25 in four overs.

Pandya thinks it was critical to gauge the situation well during his bowling, and thinks hard lengths have been a go-to ball to dismiss batters all through his international career.

"In bowling, it's important to assess the situations and use your weapons. For me, bowling short and hard lengths have been my strengths. It's about using them well and asking the right questions to make the batters commit a mistake, " Hardik said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Bowler was under more pressure in last over, feels Pandya

Chasing a target of 148, the Men in Blue had hiccups in between with the dismissals of Virat Kohli (35) and Rohit Sharma (12) in quick succession.

The breezy knock of Ravindra Jadeja (35 off 29) helped India to get closer to the opposition's score. Pandya hit three boundaries off Haris Rauf in the penultimate over, resulting in India needing 7 of the final over.

"I always knew that there is one young bowler and also one left-arm spinner. We only needed 7 off the last over but even if we needed 15, I'd have fancied myself. I know the bowler is under more pressure than me in the 20th over. I try to keep things simple," Hardik added.

After Jadeja's dismissal on the first ball, Pandya kept his cool to complete the chase in a grand fashion, while remaining unbeaten of 33* off 17 balls.
