Shaheen Afridi, the Pakistan pacer, may look like an aggressive cricketer on the field, but off-field, he is one of the kindest cricketers. Sometimes, a player gets misinterpreted due to their on-field persona, and Shaheen is one of them. The same happened with Virat Kohli, as fans and many experts judged him for what he was while playing a cricket match.
Similarly, Shaheen has similar traits to Kohli, and when not playing a game of cricket, the left-arm seamer has a pure soul, and here are three instances where he showcased it.
1) Heart-warming gesture towards Rashid Khan
Currently, Pakistan is playing in a tri-nation series alongside Afghanistan and the UAE, and during the series, Afghanistan's all-rounder, Rashid Khan, lost his elder brother, Haji Abdul Halim. This broke the Afghanistan captain, and the first one to console him was Shaheen Afridi.
A video surfaced online, where Shaheen was consoling a dejected Rashid, and the moment melted everyone as the Pakistan cricketer won hearts with his gesture. The left-arm seamer was spotted embracing Rashid Khan, offering him comfort in his moment of grief.
2) A special gift to Bumrah
During the Asia Cup 2023, India were set to collide with Pakistan, and before the game, Shaheen Afridi came up with a special gift for the Indian pacer, Jasprit Bumrah. In the same year, Bumrah became a father, and as a gesture of goodwill, Shaheen presented a special gift for Bumrah on becoming a new father.
This showed that players from India and Pakistan can go beyond the political turmoil and could share a light-hearted moment together.
3) Shaheen's special prayer for out of form Kohli
We go back to the 2022 Asia Cup and entering the marquee event, Virat Kohli was going through his worst form, and was heading into the tournament after a mini-break. Before the India-Pakistan clash, Shaheen met Kohli, and told him that he would pray for Kohli to get his form back.
This brought a smile on Kohli's face as he replied - "Take care, get well soon."
