2024 was a landmark year for Kolkata Knight Riders as they ended a 10-year drought to lift the IPL trophy. With the 2025 season on the horizon, the defending champions will try to carry on the legacy with a mighty new squad.

Even after winning the much-awaited trophy, some of the KKR players struggled throughout 2024. As the franchise is looking forward to another successful season, here are the 3 KKR stars who had a tough time in the year.

3. Vaibhav Arora

In the IPL 2025 auction, Kolkata Knight Riders snatched up Vaibhav Arora for a cool 1.80 crore. But the year 2024 was not too shabby for the youngster. Arora featured in 10 matches and secured 11 wickets with an economy rate of 9.20 with an average of 25.1.

This year, the bowler secured his best bowling figure of 3/27 against Delhi Capitals in 2024 IPL. However, apart from that highlight, Arora faced a challenging year overall. KKR will be counting on the speedster to unleash his full potential. To ensure a successful season, he needs to bring his A-game to the big stage.

2. Ramandeep Singh

Kolkata Knight Riders splurged 4 Crore in the auction to have Ramandeep Singh in their squad In his lone T20I outing, he scored just 15 runs and secured 1 wicket, leaving much to be desired.

It’s been a tough year for Ramandeep Singh, as he struggled to make an impact in T20 cricket. With just 125 runs in 9 matches with an average of 31.2 and no wickets in name, the all-rounder failed to deliver magic with both bat and ball. If this form persists in 2025, KKR’s all-round position might face a setback.

1. Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh, this name in this list might be a shocker but this is what it is. KKR’s one of the best firepower had a tough time throughout 2024. Donning India’s jersey, Rinku scored just 264 runs in 18 outings in the shortest format with an average of only 24.0. These aren’t the most impressive stats for ‘Lord Rinku’.

Rinku Singh’s struggles weren’t just limited to T20Is, as he faced a tough run even in the T20 format. In 13 games, he managed to score only 204 runs with a modest average of 20.4, missing out on scoring any century or half-centuries. To continue the legacy as the defending champion, KKR needs to get ‘Lord Rinku’ back into his firepower form.
