America is ready to have its own T20 league in the form of Major League Cricket (MLC); everyone in America and outside is excited for the league to begin. It will kick start on 14th July (IST) with the epic clash between Texas Super Kings and Los Angeles Knight Riders at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Grand Prairie, Texas. The finals will be played on 31st July.

Texas Super Kings (TSK), a sister franchise of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Joburg Super Kings. The team will be led by the experienced and skilful Faf Du Plessis, whereas Stephen Fleming is the head coach of the team. The Super Kings also named Devon Conway, Mitchell Santner, Dwayne Bravo, David Miller, Daniel Sams and Gerald Coetzee in the squad as their International signings.

Texas Super Kings had earlier signed nine players in the initial player draft that was held on 19th March, including Rusty Theron, Calvin Savage, Lahiru Milantha, Milind Kumar, Sami Aslam, Cameron Stevenson, Cody Chetty, Zia Shahzad and Saiteja Mukkamalla. 

The Texas Super Kings team looks balanced, with the right mix of batters, all-rounders and bowlers. Captain Faf Du Plessis has been in great touch for the last few years, especially in the previous IPL season, he has amassed 730 runs opening the batting for RCB at an average of 56.15 and an excellent strike rate of 153.68, not to forget the master of this format, David Miller, will boost-up the middle-order for them.

Conway’s Figures in T20 Leagues

Devon Conway is one of the most improved players in T20s since 2020. He is not known for his attacking and aggressive way of playing, but he can consistently score and clear boundaries by playing conventional cricket shots.

Southern Brave in ‘The Hundred’ was scoring at just 112.8 strike-rate and taking 7.82 balls to hit a boundary, and scored just 97 runs in 4 innings, which was pretty ordinary in T20s. He had similar stats with Somerset but with a better strike rate (125.50) and improved balls per boundary ratio. (5.73)

Conway improved drastically, especially in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings; he had a great last couple of seasons, scoring 924 runs in 22 innings, with an impressive strike rate of 141.3 and enhanced balls per boundary ratio of 5.03.

Conclusion

The T20 legend, Dwayne Bravo, holds the record for over 600 wickets. Mitchell Santner and Daniel Sams are valuable all-rounders with batting and bowling skills. Santner brings experience, while Sams consistently performs in the Big Bash. Gerald Coetzee's extreme pace earned him 17 wickets in SA20 at 7.71 economy and 8.6 strike rate.

Texas Super Kings have a very stabilised team on paper, and they hope to follow and replicate the legacy made by Chennai Super Kings over the years. TSK expects their local players to perform well on the bigger stage. Certainly, they have a squad that can challenge the other teams and seize the championship.
