Sri Lanka and South Africa are set to face off in the fourth match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 3.

Historically, South Africa has dominated this fixture, winning 12 out of 17 T20I matches against Sri Lanka. However, the Sri Lankan team, led by Wanindu Hasaranga, is determined to turn the tables and secure a victory in their inaugural match of the tournament.

The opening duo of Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka is expected to provide a solid start, combining aggression and stability at the top.

In the middle order, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dasun Shanaka need to step up and deliver consistent performances, a department that has shown vulnerabilities in the past. Dhananjaya de Silva's all-round capabilities will be crucial in stabilising the innings and providing flexibility in both batting and bowling.

The bowling unit, arguably Sri Lanka's strength, is packed with talent and variety. The pace attack will be spearheaded by Dushmantha Chameera, Dilshan Madushanka, and Matheesha Pathirana. The spin department, led by captain Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana, promises to challenge the South African batsmen with their guile and precision.
