The IPL 2025 mega auction is around the corner, and with rules of retention also out, the excitement around the event is increasing with each passing day. The future of plenty of superstars is being speculated with rumours of transfer of some high-profile names like Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul going rounds.
However, amidst hype around big stars, there are some young players who are also likely to grab lot of attention. One of them is Nitish Reddy, the seam-bowling all-rounder recently made his debut for India against Bangladesh and is a hot property in Indian cricket circles due to his ability to bowl around 140 KPH and bat in top four. He was impressive in the 2024 IPL as well and SRH might retain him. However, they have other quality players too in their ranks, and if they decide to let go Nitish Reddy, quite a few franchises are expected to bid big for the all-rounder. Here are the three franchises that are expected to bid for Nitish Reddy in IPL 2025 -
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are one of the most high-profile teams in IPL but have still not won a single title. They have chopped and changed a lot over the years, but have not been able to find a balanced squad, and it has led to their downfall. One of the major issues for RCB over the years has been the absence of quality Indian players in the middle order. They have relied heavily on their superstars at the top of the order and it has created imbalance in the squad.
So, they might try to buy Nitish Reddy in the upcoming mega auction if he is up for grabs as he is a good reliable middle order batter and provides option with the ball as well. He also has good temperament and has age on his side, so he could be a great choice for RCB and we might see them going all in for the all-rounder.
Rajasthan Royals (RR)
Rajasthan Royals have been quite successful in the last few years. They had a good squad on paper and even made it to the final of IPL 2022. However, one issue that haunted them in the last few years was the absence of quality all-rounder. They tried the likes of Jason Holder, but the move did not work and it cost them in crunch situations in knockout games. So, if they can buy Nitish Reddy, he can provide flexibility and balance to the RR squad and could be the difference between them qualifying for the playoffs and winning the title.
Also, RR have over the years have always backed Indian talent, and we can expect them to bid big for Nitish Reddy in IPL 2025.
Gujarat Titans (GT)
Gujarat Titans won their inaugural edition in IPL and also played the final of the 2023 IPL. One of the major reasons for their success in those two years was the presence of Hardik Pandya, the all-rounder who batted in top five and bowled crucial overs for them. Pandya left GT in the 2024 season and the franchise tried to fill in his gap by bringing in Azmatullah Omarzai, but the move did not work and Gujarat had a forgettable season.
So, given their liking for the all-rounders, we can expect them to bid for Nitish Reddy in mega auction for IPL 2025. He brings similar skillset to the table like Hardik Pandya and could take the franchise forward in the upcoming years.
