Afghanistan made history by defeating South Africa by a massive margin of 177 runs in the second of the three-match ODI series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. They have now taken an unassailable lead in the series, and this is their first-ever international series win against the Proteas.

The Temba Bavuma-led side failed to find a reply to Afghanistan's spin bowlers and submitted helplessly in both games. The win in the second match was set up by a brilliant Hundred from Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Carried by Gurbaz's hundred and Azmatullah Omarzai's aggressive 86 off 50, Afghanistan managed to post 311/4 in their 50 overs.

South Africa faltered against the Afghan spinners in the chase. Rashid Khan ran through the South African batting and picked up five wickets for 19 runs in his nine overs. Rashid was aided by the young Nangeyalia Kharote, who picked up four wickets and conceded only 26 runs from 6.2 overs.

Who is Nangeyalia Kharote?

Nangeyalia Kharote is an Afghan bowler born on April 25, 2004. He is a left-arm orthodox spin bowler known for his ability to bowl good areas and economical spells. Kharote impressed the cricket world with his bowling in the second ODI against South Africa at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. He picked up four wickets and played a significant role in handing over a 177-run defeat to the Proteas.

Nangeyalia Kharote's IPL Chances

The Indian Premier League is a great stage for new talents from around the world to express themselves and carve out a path for themselves at the highest level of the game. With a mega-auction scheduled ahead of the next edition of the tournament, one might expect Kharote to be an area of interest for the IPL franchises.

Here are three reasons why Nangeyalia Kharote will break banks during the IPL 2025 mega auction -

1. Value of Afghan spinners

Afghanistan has been the breeding ground of some of the best spinners in the cricketing circuit at present. The IPL franchises have often provided these talents from Afghanistan the ground to express themselves at the highest level and display their abilities. Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb ur Rahman and Noor Ahmad have all played and are still active in the grand league. The affinity of the IPL franchises towards the Afghan spinners indicates that the next big buy from this breed of players might be Nangeyalia Kharote.

2. Indian pitches assisting spinners

While IPL is known for the batting shows it generally puts on, some wickets test the batters' technique and temperament to a great extent. Pitches in stadiums like the Ekana Cricket Stadium and MA Chidambaram Stadium often provide enough assistance to the spinners to impact the game in more ways than one. Even on other tracks in the league, the ball helps the spinners in the middle phase of a game, bringing them into the game. This general tendency of the Indian wickets to favour the spinners will encourage the IPL franchises to go after Kharote during the auction.

3. X-Factor of Nangeyalia Kharote

Nangeyalia Kharote still remains a majorly unknown entity in the cricketing circle. Not many of the of the batters or the teams have faced him or know about him. Thus, having Kharote will bring an element of surprise to the team's bowling attack. The IPL franchises, especially KKR, SRH, GT, and PBKS, look for bowlers with that mystery or X factor in their bowling. Thus, the franchises looking to beat the other teams with their strategies on the auction table will go hard after him.
