This evening, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 61st match of the ongoing IPL 2025 season. The much-anticipated encounter will be played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Led by Rishabh Pant, LSG are currently placed seventh in the points table, managing five wins in eleven matches. As they battle with MI and DC for a playoff spot, here's how they can make a wildcard entry to the top four in the standings.
How Can LSG Confirm IPL 2025 Playoffs Qualification?
To qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs, LSG must win their remaining three matches. If they lose even one game from hereon, they will finish the group-stage with 14 points and suffer a group-stage elimination.
MI and DC have 14 and 13 points, respectively, and they have a face-off on 21st May. The winner of this contest will have more than 14 points; so, LSG must win their remaining three games and try to finish with 16 points.
With only one spot up for grabs, LSG must hope for MI and DC to finish with less than 16 points.

If MI win one of their remaining games, they will have 16 points. In that case, LSG's qualification will be decided by the Net Run Rate. It's worth mentioning that MI and LSG's NRR currently read +1.156 and -0.469, respectively. So, even if LSG win their remaining games, MI's one victory could result in their disqualification from the tournament.
So, LSG would like to see MI lose their matches against DC and PBKS, while simultaneously rooting for a PBKS victory against the Capitals. This is the only way they can be the only team to finish the group stage with 16 points and confirm a slot in the playoffs.
However, on the contrary, if they lose one game, the Super Giants will get knocked out of the competition. They would be least concerned by the dead-rubbers: CSK vs RR, RCB vs SRH, CSK vs GT and KKR vs SRH, as the outcomes of these matches won't affect them.
