The India team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, will begin their campaign in the ninth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup against New Zealand. This will be the fourth match of the T20 World Cup 2024.

This match will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. How the captain and the management perceive the pitch will play a major role in determining the team composition.

India team history in the tournament

The Indian team will be aiming for its first-ever World title in this tournament. The team's best performance came in 2020, when it reached the finals but lost against Australia. So far, India has played 36 games in the tournament and won 20 of them. Their win percentage of 55.55 is the fifth-best in the tournament's history.

Dubai International Cricket Stadium Pitch Report

The track at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium is expected to be on the slower side. Stroke playing will be difficult for the batters. However, as it is a night game, one can expect that dew might come in the second innings and make batting easier. But given the traditional nature of the pitch, India will look to field a spin-heavy playing XI.

India's Probable Combination against New Zealand

Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma are India's regular openers, and they are expected to feature automatically. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team's middle order at number three. Dayalan Hemlatha might get a place at number four, given her ability to tackle spin successfully.

Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh are expected to follow Hemlatha in the line-up. While Harmanpreet Kaur and Hemlatha will have to provide solidity to the batting, Jemimah and Richa will have to give dynamism and momentum so the team gets a powerful finish.

Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil are expected to be the team's all-round spin bowling players. Renuka Singh Thakur and Pooja Vastrakar will comprise the pace attack, and Radha Yadav will probably be India's front-line spinner in this game.
