It’s all set to go down at the Dubai International Stadium as Dubai Capitals take on Gulf Giants in Match 16 of the International League T20 2025 on Thursday, January 23. Both teams are coming off very different results, making this a match to watch.

Dubai Capitals

The Capitals have had a bumpy ride this season. They have played five games, winning two and losing three. Consistency has been their biggest issue, but their last match was a glimpse of what they can do when they click. They took down Desert Vipers by six wickets in a strong all-round performance.

It all started with the bowlers. Dushmantha Chameera and Zahir Khan were on fire, bagging three wickets each, as the Capitals bowled the Vipers out for just 139.

The chase was all about Gulbadin Naib. The man was unstoppable, smashing an unbeaten 78 off just 51 balls. He didn’t just guide the team home but made it look easy. The Capitals will now aim to ride this wave and grab another win to stay in the playoff race.

Gulf Giants

The Giants are having a season to forget. They have played four games and only won one. Things haven’t clicked for them, and their last match was no different. Facing Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, they were outplayed in every department, losing by 37 runs.

Their bowlers had a mixed day. Aayan Afzal Khan was the standout with a brilliant 4/16, but the rest of the attack, including Mark Adair and Tymal Mills, leaked runs, allowing the Knight Riders to post 176/9.

The batting was even worse. None of the batters stepped up, and almost everyone threw away their starts. The Giants will need a much better performance if they want to stay in the hunt. They have the players, but they need to click as a unit.

Dubai International Stadium Pitch Report: Is It Batting Or Bowling Friendly?

The Dubai International Stadium pitch has been a fair contest for both batters and bowlers this season. Pacers can expect some early movement with the new ball, making the first few overs tricky for batters. But as the game goes on, the pitch tends to flatten out, making stroke play easier.

Dew will be a big factor in the second innings, making it tough for spinners to grip the ball. This gives chasing teams an edge, as seen in four of the first seven matches here, where the side batting second has won. With an average first-innings score of 156, captains winning the toss are likely to bowl first and take advantage of the conditions later.
