Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul are currently batting with grit and resilience in the first Test of the Indian tour of England 2025. The pair has shown great determination and stood the Test of the morning session.

Incidentally, one of the most discussed points at the beginning of the game was the solidity of the Indian batting. However, Jaiswal and Rahul, with the current show, have made it clear that the team can depend on at least these two players at the top of the order to provide them with further solid starts throughout the series.

The Test Of The English Pacers

As per CricViz, there have been 39 Test matches that have been played in England before this match. Only in three games has there been more swing in the first 10 overs than the morning spell in this match between Woakes and Carse.

Even when such a hostile spell was being bowed, the Indian openers showed great determination and grit. The duo worked 91 runs and more or less saw out the lethal opening spell.

How Jaiswal-Rahul Countered The English Test?

Throughout the opening spell by the two English pacers, Jaiswal and Rahul concentrated more, leaving the deliveries outside the off stump. The most important part was that they did not look to push the balls away from their body.

The selection of shots by the two batters was also interesting. Yashasvi and KL waited for the deliveries to be in their range before going for shots.

The most important part was their staying patient even if runs were not coming at their desired rate. The two batters were ready to spend time and build their innings rather than going for runs recklessly.

Conclusion

The importance of patience and resilience in English conditions was evident from the two wickets that India lost towards the end of the session. After the dismissal of Rahul, it was seen that they had a plan to tempt India's number three Sai Sudharsan. The fact that the Southpaw failed to resist the temptation and walked straight into the trap that was laid for him underlines the opening duo's importance.
