Why spending money on Livingston was wise from RCB [Source: AP Photos]
While one RCB player, Phil Salt has repeatedly failed in the ongoing T20I series, another RCB star signing quietly went about his business in the 3rd T20I and bailed India out of a precarious situation. Liam Livingstone was under pressure heading into the contest, however, he showed his class and played a blinder to take England to a respectable total.
England lost Phil Salt early in the innings and despite a strong partnershop betweem Ben Duckett and Jos Buttler, England lost the plot in the middle overs as Varun Chakravarthy bagged a five-wicket haul in the contest. However, England's pride was restored by Liam Livingstone as he scored a quick-fire 43 off 24 and took them to a decent total.
RCB have bought him for IPL 2025 and one could say that they have spent their money wisely on Livingstone and here's why.
Livingstone can act as a finisher
Many people view Livingstone as a number 4, 5 kind of a batter. However, the knock which he played on Tuesday showcases his finishing abilities. England were struggling to post even 150 runs on the board, but then Livingstone played a blinder and despite getting dismissed, he showcased his finishing abilities and took England to a decent total.
Can be a counter-attacking threat for the opposition
As witnessed in the 3rd T20I, England lost a flurry of wickets and despite it, the English batter went berserk and played his natural attacking game. He counter-attacked and took the attack to the Indian bowlers as they lost their rhythm.
This is what RCB need at the moment. They need a batter who can play aggressive game in the middle-order, despite team losing wickets at regular intervals. Plus, if he is in song, there is no bowler who can stop him.
