The Indian Premier League is often regarded as the best platform for the new players to display their talents. The 2025 edition of the tournament has given India some new names for the opening spot.
The Indian team is looking to restructure their T20I squad. Abhishek Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been the openers, the Indian management has trusted in the last couple of seasons. However, neither Abhishek Sharm nor Yashasvi Jaiswal has delivered with the bat so far.
Yashasvi Jaiswal And Abhishek Sharma Performance in IPL 2025
Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored 107 runs in five matches in the tournament. The young Indian opener has not looked in the best of rhythms. He averages only 21.40 in IPL 2025 at a strike rate of 127.38.
While Jaiswal has crossed the 100 mark in the tournament, Abhishek Sharma has had an even more dreadful run in the tournament. He has as scored only 51 runs in the tournament at an average of 10.20.
With these two openers underperforming in the tournament, the Indian management might look at these options pretty soon -
1. Priyansh Arya

The young left-handed opener destroyed the CSK bowling in the last game and scored a blazing Hundred. Priyansh Arya's knock made him the talk of the town very soon. The mode of batting he showed in that game made him an immediate contender for the Indian T20I side. With his style of batting exactly suitable for the India's current intent, he looks like one of the players who can be a part of the Indian T20I side.
2. B Sai Sudharsan

The GT opener has been in a brilliant form with the bat in IPL 2025. B Sai Sudharsan has scored 329 runs in 6 matches at an average of 54.83 and a strike rate of 151.61. The southpaw has shown brilliant consistency in the tournament and has shown that he can provide solidity at the top of the order. Although his style is not exactly suited to India's current approach, the induction of Sudharsan could be good move on part of the Indian management.
3. Prabhsimran Singh

The young Indian wicket-keeper and opening batter has been one of the most promising talents in the tournament. Although, Prabhsimran Singh has not het had a breakthrough season in IPL, he has shown some moments of brilliance. Sing has the intent to go after the bowling from the very beginning of a match and that could make him a valuable addition to the Indian T20I squad.
