As we move closer to the business end of the ongoing Indian Premier League Season (IPL 2024), the action arrives at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow as the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) host Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 48 on Tuesday, April 30.

Coming into the game, LSG stands fifth on the table as one of the four teams sitting on 10 points and another team just ahead by a win on the second spot. The competition is stiff and unfortunately, the visitors, MI have been struggling as they linger at the ninth spot with just three wins under their belt.

In the four previous clashes between the two sides, LSG holds the upper hand with three wins to MI's one solitary victory in last year's eliminator.

When LSG Last Met MI In IPL

The last time these two sides faced off was in the eliminator of IPL 2023 when LSG finished third ahead of MI after the first round.

Playing at the MA Chidambaram Stadium of Chennai, the Mumbai side won the toss and batted first, citing the conditions in favour of defending the total.

After enjoying a good powerplay with 62/2, thanks to Cameron Green's 23* (9), MI lost their momentum as they only managed 62 runs in the next 9 overs. However, Nehal Wadhera did the repair work with his quick-fire 23* (12) as an impact sub.

Naveen-ul-Haq scalped 4 for 38 and Yash Thakur finished his spell with 3/34. Ravi Bishnoi bowled a good spell as well as he just conceded 30 from his four overs.

In the run chase, the Lucknow-based side looked clueless after the powerplay where Kyle Mayers tried to give them a good start but only managed 18 (13). Marcus Stoinis looked good for his 40 (27) before getting run out in the 12th over. LSG didn't manage to come back and ended up with just 101 on the board.

Akash Madhwal delivered a masterclass with the ball for Mumbai with his five-wicket haul while just conceding 5 runs in his 3.3 overs.

MI proceeded to Qualifier 2 with an 81-run win and Madhwal was adjudged the Player of the Match for his outstanding effort in his first-ever IPL knockout game.
