When Will India Announce T20 World Cup 2024 Squad? Agarkar 'Unofficially' Meets Rohit Sharma

The T20 World Cup 2024 squad announcement is closing in and the chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar has made sure that he meets captain, Rohit Sharma in an informal meeting before he sits with the selection panel for the selection of 15-man squad to board the flight to the USA.
It is understood that Agarkar travelled to Delhi on Saturday, ahead of the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians face-off and had an informal discussion over the squad.
However, the formal announcement is expected to happen in Mumbai on May 1, which is the deadline date to announce the preliminary team.
As most of the squad members pick themselves, a lot of surprises are not expected. With Yuzvendra Chahal having a good season, he still doesn't look like someone who is being considered. Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi are competing for the third spinner spot.
It would be interesting to see how the selectors and the management look at Hardik Pandya the bowler. Fitting Pandya in the squad would mean one of Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube misses out.
It is being reported that KL Rahul is the front-runner for the wicketkeeper's spot despite Sanju Samson's good form in the ongoing Indian Premier League season.
The other names that might be a part of the discussion will be the two southpaws Tilak Varma and Rishabh Pant, who both are doing well in the IPL with wicketkeeper situation not fully resolved yet.
