The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise will host a high-flying Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) unit on April 15. The much-awaited contest, set to be staged at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, marks RCB’s fourth home game of the IPL 2024 season.

The match promises to be yet another gripping event between the two sides, considering their history, star attractions and SRH’s sudden insurgence.

SRH recently pulled off successive wins over CSK and Punjab Kings to catapult themselves among the top four sides on the IPL 2024 points table. A star-studded RCB line-up, on the other hand, is placed at the bottom of the 10-team standings as they have managed to secure just a win amidst five defeats this season.

As RCB and SRH prep themselves for match number 30 of IPL 2024, here is a look back at their previous meeting, one which occurred back during IPL 2023 at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

When RCB Faced SRH in IPL 2023

An Aiden Markram-led SRH hosted Faf du Plessis’ RCB in match number 65 of IPL 2023 at Hyderabad back on May 18 that year.

After SRH was put to bat first, the ‘Orange Army’ gathered 186-5 upfront largely owing to Heinrich Klaasen’s turbulent 51-ball 104. Interestingly, Harry Brook’s mere 27* marked the second highest benefactor of the high-scoring innings, with no other batter managing to outscore Markram’s sluggish 18.

Klaasen smacked eight boundaries and six sixes in his sizzling knock while batting at number four and shared valiant partnerships with Brook and Markram.

Among RCB bowlers, Mohammed Siraj conceded just 17 off his four overs and picked up Glenn Phillips while spinner Michael Bracewell struck twice in two overs.

Kohli's hundred lit up Hyderabad

In response, RCB shrugged 172 runs from their target off the back of a huge opening stand between centurion Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis. Kohli scored an exact 100 from 63 balls before he fell to Bhuvneshwar Kumar while the RCB skipper punched out an impactful 47-ball 71.

Following their sudden dismissals, Glenn Maxwell and Michael Bracewell secured the remaining runs with relative ease as RCB romped to victory with eight wickets and four balls to spare.
