Afghanistan's spin prodigy Noor Ahmad had a forgettable start to Gujarat Titans' ongoing IPL 2024 face-off against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

The left-arm wrist spinner received a heavy hammering from RR's in-form batter Riyan Parag, who smashed him for two sixes in an over.

The incident occurred during the 13th over of the Royals' innings when GT skipper Shubman Gill decided to bowl out Noor Ahmad in a bid to break the scintillating stand between Parag and Sanju Samson.

However, his tactic backfired like a boomerang for the visitors, with Parag smacking the young spinner all around the park.

Noor began the over on a disastrous note, as Parag dispatched the ball over the deep mid-wicket boundary for a maximum.

After conceding two singles on his next two balls, Noor bowled another flighted delivery, which Parag slog-swept for another six through the same region.

The Assam batter, who has exhibited remarkable consistency in the IPL this season, completed his third IPL 2024 fifty with a monstrous six off Mohit Sharma on the very next over.

The stylish right-hander has played a pivotal role in bringing RR's innings back on the track following the early dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler.

As of writing, the hosts were in a commanding position, placed at 134 for two in 15 overs, with Samson and Parag batting on 44* and 56*, respectively.
