MS Dhoni entertained a lively Wankhede crowd on Sunday, April 14 by launching a sequence of three extraordinary sixes off Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya. The legendary wicketkeeper ended up shaping 20 unbeaten runs from just four deliveries, as CSK surged to 206-4 by the completion of their 20 overs.

At the time when CSK troops were making their way to the field for the second half of the game, Dhoni jokingly asked for a ‘pat on the shoulder’ from newly-appointed captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for his sizzling cameo earlier in the game.

A couple of days prior to the launch of IPL 2024 season, MS Dhoni relinquished his captaincy responsibility in favor of rising CSK star Ruturaj Gaikwad. While Gaikwad has repeatedly expressed his admiration for the former CSK skipper, the two cricketers can often be seen sharing a great camaraderie on the field.

At the halfway stage of CSK’s away IPL 2024 bout against Mumbai Indians on April 14, MS Dhoni jokingly asked Gaikwad to give him a ‘pat on the shoulder’ for his batting heroics.

Apart from MS Dhoni’s flourishing four-ball 20*, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad also punched out an attacking 40-ball 69 at the top of the order. His 90-run partnership with fellow half-centurion Shivam Dube ensured CSK raced towards a competitive total after being asked to bat first.

Later in the game, young CSK fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana dashed Mumbai Indians’ run-chase ambitions by picking up figures of 4-28 from four overs.

As of now, MS Dhoni and captain Gaikwad along with the rest of their CSK teammates are gearing up to face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match number 34 of the IPL 2024 season on April 19.
