In a significant development, swashbuckling Australian batter Mitchell Marsh has returned to Australia amid Delhi Capitals' IPL 2024 campaign. As reported by ESPN Cricinfo, Marsh has flew back to his home country to treat the partial tear in his right hamstring.

Marsh, a vital cog of Australia’s white-ball setup, had a disastrous IPL 2024 campaign with the bat, managing only 61 runs across four outings at a miserable average and strike rate.

The veteran Aussie all-rounder failed to convert his starts into big scores in DC’s first three games before recording a two-ball duck against Kolkata Knight Riders.

However, an injury setback ruined his IPL dream, ruling him out of the crucial face-offs against Mumbai Indians and Lucknow SuperGiants.

In his absence, Delhi Capitals tested Australia’s BBL sensation Jake Fraser-McGurk at the top order, as the batter struck a belligerent fifty in the Capitals’ previous game against the SuperGiants.

Regarding the Capitals, the Rishabh Pant-led side has blown hot and cold in the competition. With two wins in six outings, they are reeling at the ninth position in the points table. They will take on Gujarat Titans in their next group-stage match in Ahmedabad on April 17.
