In a significant development, Rajasthan Royals won’t have the services of Jos Buttler in Match 27 of the IPL 2024 against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur.
England’s limited-overs captain, who smashed a spectacular century against RCB, will not be available to continue the fireworks against the Punjab-based franchise, who won’t have their leader Shikhar Dhawan either.
As Sanju Samson mentioned in the toss, Buttler has picked up a niggle ahead of the Punjab Kings’ fixture, and hence, they did not decide to take any risk as long competition ahead.
Rajasthan are at the top of the points table, having won four out of their five matches. Punjab, on the other hand, are eighth, with two wins in five matches.
Now it will be interesting to see who can open for Rajasthan in Buttler’s absence. They don’t have many options, which means Sanju Samson can promote himself to the top alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. Or will Dhruv Jurel, who did not get many chances so far this season, be at the top? Only time will tell.
