As the IPL never fails to deliver the thrills, sometimes some uncanny moments off the field often grab the limelight. Something similar happened in the IPL 2024 when Lucknow Super Giants locked horns in the 26th match of the season. As LSG batted first, a fiery exchange between veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma and LSG batter Ayush Badoni grabbed the attention.

In that match, Ishant Sharma came to bowl the last over and Badoni hit him for a brilliant boundary on the first ball. After The two exchanged a few heated words, but the moment didn’t last long. Speaking with Raj Shamani in a recent podcast, Sharma reflected on the fiery encounter.

“See, it’s a competitive sport, you’ve to do well, and even he has to do well. The aim is the same for everyone: that your team should win. See, it happens that like Delhi boy Badoni, we were playing in Lucknow,” he said.

“It was last year [in IPL] that he hit me for a four and was staring at him, and I said Badoni, ‘Jeb me daal ke le jaunga tujhe, jeb mein’ (I would take you in my pocket), and he put his eyes down, and that’s how things go. So, these are funny things, and no chance these things continue off the field,” he added.

During the fiery clash, Ayush Badoni was in unstoppable form. With Lucknow Super Giants reeling from early setbacks, the young batter emerged as a saviour, crafting a thrilling unbeaten 55 off 35 balls. Though LSG lost the match, Badoni’s fearless knock won hearts.
