'Baseball Hitting' - Sam Curran Flabbergasted With PBKS' Historic 262-Run Chase Vs KKR

Punjab Kings (PBKS) scripted history earlier today at Eden Gardens by chasing 262 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and winning captain Sam Curran was absolutely at a loss for words to describe his team's extraordinary performance.

262 runs were chased at Eden Gardens courtesy of Jonny Bairstow and Shashank Singh's astounding onslaught over KKR bowlers.

After Bairstow scored a century, Shashank fired up with 68 runs off a mere 28 deliveries to script the highest-ever chase in T20 format history.

While PBK shattered record boxes, captain Sam Curran was still wrapping his head around when he was asked to describe his team's performance in a post-match interview.  Curran referred to PBKS' assault as baseball hitting and reckoned that his team deserved to win.

"Phew! Very pleasing the win and then it was baseball hitting. Where to start from. Delighted to get two points and we hung in there and deserved the win and two points," Curran said.

Sam Curran added that while he does not believe the T20 format is a batters' game, the records have been unprecedentedly shattered this year.

"I think the guys chase and can hit it for a long time. The confidence and the coaches and the ground small as well. It is not a batsman's game to me but stats are going out of the window," he added.

Curran credited Bairstow and Shashank for showing character and resilience in a challenging chase.

"Yes, we did well to hang in there despite going the distance. Jonny played a great knock and he showed character and Shashank showed great responsibility and was impressive. It was a big win and we will take the two points easily. WOW! Great game," Curran concluded.

With the win, PBKS moved up a place in the points table to eight position with six points in eight games. The playoff race is still steep, but this enthralling win is exactly what PBKS needs right now to boost the morale.
