Ahead of the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, Pakistan Shaheens’ captain Mohammad Haris introduced an unexpected rule for his squad—no discussions about their match against India A in the dressing room. This directive comes as the tournament, running from October 18 to 27, 2024, kicks off in Muscat and Oman.
In a video shared on Platform X, Haris addressed his teammates humorously, saying:
“Aapko ek baat bataun, pehli dafa hoga ke is dressing room mein Bharat par baat karne par pabandi hai” (Let me tell you, this will be the first time there’s a ban on talking about India in this dressing room).
He clarified further, stating that the restriction isn’t only about India: “We are banned from discussing India, but we must respect all teams equally.”
Haris, who has represented Pakistan’s senior team in six matches with modest returns of 30 runs at an average of 7.50, will lead the Shaheens in this tournament. The 23-year-old made his international debut on June 8, 2022, and has also participated in nine T20I matches, accumulating 126 runs.
With Haris at the helm, Pakistan A will face India A on October 19 at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground—a high-stakes opener against a fierce rival.
Tilak Varma To Lead India A In Emerging Asia Cup 2024
India A, led by promising talent Tilak Varma, will aim to kick off their campaign on a high. Supporting Varma are vice-captain Abhishek Sharma and wicketkeeper-batsman Prabhsimran Singh. The squad boasts a solid blend of youth and experience, featuring rising stars like Nishant Sindhu, Ramandeep Singh, Nehal Wadhera, and Ayush Badoni, along with seasoned bowlers Rahul Chahar and Vaibhav Arora.
India A, who finished runners-up in the last edition, will look to settle scores by defeating Pakistan A in this group-stage encounter.
