After losing their third game of the ongoing IPL 2024 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins analysed his team's defeat against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), saying the Orange Army lost too many wickets while chasing an above-par total.

He also blamed the bowlers, saying they conceded an above-par total against the Red Brigade.

Speaking after an embarrassing loss to a tenth-placed RCB in their own backyard, Cummins said:

"It was not an ideal night for us. Maybe a few more runs were given with the ball that was above par. We also lost too many wickets in the chase. I don't think that batting second was the reason for the defeat,

"We are a bat first team, alright. A few games ago we thought we were a bat second win team. We won't dwell on this one too much. It's a long tournament. One here and there, you're bound to end up losing."

RCB won the toss and chose to bat first, putting up an impressive total of 206/7, with Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar scoring half-centuries.

The chase never seemed under control for the Sunrisers as they began losing wickets right from the first over.

In-form opener Travis Head managed just one run before being dismissed by Will Jacks. Abhishek Sharma scored a quick 31 off 13 balls but fell to Yash Dayal in the latter's first over.

Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen were dismissed by RCB's substitute Swapnil Singh in a single over during the powerplay, leaving SRH struggling at 62/4 within the first six overs.

Although Shahbaz Ahmed attempted to hit some big shots towards the end, it wasn't enough. He remained unbeaten on 40 off 37 deliveries as SRH could only manage to reach 171/8, falling short by 35 runs.
