The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Saturday (November 19) sacked the entire nation selection committee, including chairman Chetan Sharma following the T20 World Cup 2022 debacle.

The Rohit Sharma-led India suffered a humiliating 10 wickets defeat at the hands of England in the semifinals of the showpiece tournament and were knocked out of the marquee event.

The BCCI have also invited applications for the post of India's national selector after firing the entire selection committee led by Chetan Sharma.

Meanwhile, the reasons behind the sacking of the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee have been revealed. As per a report of news agency PTI, some of the reasons behind Sharma's axing are as follows:

• Not being able to make a settled squad with eight captains in one just a year.

• Loss in Asia Cup and T20 World Cup.

• Picking KL Rahul after an 8 months gap.

• Failed to reward the domestic or IPL performers

• Workload management

A senior national selector usually has a four-year term but the Chetan Sharma-led senior selection committee marked the shortest stint as the national selector.

During their tenure, Team India recorded a plethora of victories in bilateral series but they failed to perform in the ICC tournaments. From losing the World Test Championships final to New Zealand to group stage exit in T20 World Cup 2021, it all happened under Sharma's tenure.
