The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are facing off against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 12th match of IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium on March 31.

After winning the toss, MI decided to bowl first and quickly put pressure on KKR. Their bowlers struck early, causing KKR’s top order to collapse. Trent Boult dismissed Sunil Narine for a duck, Deepak Chahar got rid of Quinton de Kock for a low score, and debutant Ashwani Kumar took his first IPL wicket by dismissing KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane.

Manish Pandey Returns As An Impact Player

Following the early setbacks, KKR brought in Manish Pandey as an Impact Player after Angkrish Raghuvanshi was dismissed for 26 runs. Pandey started confidently, smashing a six off Vignesh Putthur in the first over he faced, trying to build the innings. But this raised the question; when was the last time Manish Pandey played in the IPL before this match?

Manish Pandey played just one match in IPL 2024. Coincidentally, it was also against Mumbai Indians. He came in as an Impact Player in that game too and delivered a solid performance, scoring 42 runs off 31 balls. His contribution helped KKR secure a 24-run victory. However, despite this strong performance, he wasn’t included in KKR’s playing XI for the rest of the season.
