Watch: Marcus Stoinis Indulges in Fight with Virat Kohli at Chennai
IND vs AUS: Kohli scored his 65th ODI fifty at Chennai (Twitter)
In a nail-biting chase at Chennai, Virat Kohli was India's lone warrior in the third ODI against Steve Smith's Australia. Scoring at 54, the former Indian captain did what he does best - helping Team India go for a tricky total. However, he got indulged in a heated bump-in with Australia's Marcus Stoinis and later failed to take India over the line.
In the final ODI of the series, Kohli returned to his old groove after failing at Mumbai and Visakhapatnam. He scored his 65th ODI half-century, scoring a fluent 54 off 72 deliveries, in persuade of India's chase of 270 runs, but in vain.
However, during his partnership with KL Rahul, the Australians tried getting under the skin of the Indian batting maestro by sledging him - both verbally and physically.
During the 21st over of the chase, when the 34-year-old rotated the strike against Stoinis, the all-rounder engaged in a heated shoulder bump with the batter. After that instance, Kohli gave him a long stare, of which a video went viral on social media.
The Chase-master might not have Stoinis help the last laugh, but he got dismissed by Ashton Agar in a nail-biting situation of the game. In hindsight, Kohli's dismissal turned out to be a changing curve for India as they lost wickets in a cluster, losing five in 63 runs.
Despite being out of the game for most of the play, Australia eventually won by 21 runs at Chennai, resulting in India losing their first ODI series at home in four years.
