In a significant development, veteran Australian batter David Warner has hinted at his retirement from international cricket after 2023.

Speaking to SKY Sports, Warner revealed his plan to bid adieu to international cricket at the end of the current year. However, the swashbuckling batter didn't rule out the chances of participating in the T20 World Cup scheduled in the USA and Caribbean next year.

Here's what Warner stated

"This will most likely be the last year of my international career. I have got my sights on the 2024 T20 World Cup as well. So, finishing in the Americas, that would be nice to top it off with a win over there, pending selection."

Warner made his international debut against South Africa at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2009. Regarded as one of the finest openers of this generation, the left-handed batter has amassed 17,033 runs in 341 appearances across formats.

The 36-year-old is currently representing Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League. His next international assignment will be a challenging tour to India, where the Aussies will play four Tests and three ODIs against the home side.
