Mohit Sharma produced the over of his life to help the Gujarat Titans (GT) beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 7-runs in an edge-of-a-seat thriller on Saturday.

Opting to bat first, Gujarat Titans posted 135 on a slow surface at the Ekana Stadium. The ball was not coming onto the bat properly, but Hardik Pandya's gritty 66 helped them post a competitive total.

In reply, LSG started on the front-foot, posting 55 for the first wicket. But as the game progressed, the wicket got slower and the GT bowlers took full advantage of it. They slowed things down and the equation came down to 12 runs in the last over of Mohit Sharma. 

He took back-to-back wickets in the form of KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis, and also inflicted two run-outs in the same over as LSG crumbled under pressure and eventually lost the match.

For his heroics, Mohit Sharma was adjudged the Player of the Match. Speaking to the official broadcaster after the match, Mohit was ecstatic with the win and talked about the process that helped him achieve everything.

"Nothing is special. Everything is normal. I feel the consistency is there and it's in process. The best thing about this team is that you do well or bad, you need to go back and do the process right from the beginning."

Mohit Sharma explains his tactics

"You don't need to do a lot of things. Just do the practice and do it with honesty. Yeah, this is special. The believe factor didn't go anywhere. Hardik was again and again telling us that we are winning this game, we are winning this game. Ashu [Ashish Nehra] Bhai came in during the timeout and told us to do our work with full honesty and things will happen. It was important to stay positive and focus on the present.


I didn't think too much, was just clear with my thought process. I wasn't thinking too much that need to bowl and bouncer or a yorker so the batter keeps judging."

With this emphatic victory, GT have joined CSK, LSG and RR as the fourth team to have 8 points. Moreover, this is their third successive away win in the tournament.
